The Similan Islands has an area of around 590 square kilometres and has a population of a little over 348,000. It is actually a group of islands that is located at the south of Krabi town. Its location is perfect for exploring the beautiful scenery provided by its marine life. Its name is actually derived from a Malaysian word that means group of nine islands.It was declared as a marine national park back in 1982. With that said, it is perfect for marine tourism that usually involves activities like snorkelling, sailing and even scuba diving

The Similan Islands are around 100 kilometres distance from Phuket. Sea route is the best way to reach the islands as you can easily get boat or yacht charters services in Phuket.
By plane to Phuket
Phuket is the nearest and well connected airport making Similan Islands easily accessible from different parts of the globe. Krabi is another nearest Airport to Similan Islands.
By bus to Phuket
Air-conditioned buses are easily available from Bangkok and Phuket Bus Terminals to Khao Lak and operated several times in a day.
By ferry to Phuket
Khao Lak, Phang Nga province is the best sea route option to reach Similan islands and it takes around three hours to reach there. However if you use a chartered speed boat then time taken can reduce to around 70 minutes. Day trips from Phuket to Similan islands are offered from all the operators.
